Different surface treatments for Ti-alloy were investigated. SHA was selected as it possessed the best 'wet-fatigue' performance and is suitable for industrial scale production. Fracture mechanics tests were conducted in modes Ⅰ,Ⅱ and mixed-mode Ⅰ/Ⅱ to measure the fracture energy, i.e. G_(IC), G_(IIC) and G_(I/IIc).
