Beach nourishment modelling: Impact of coastal structures

Beach nourishment is a soft engineering approach to protect the eroding beaches and preserve the beach resources. It has been increasingly used in the shoreline management in the UK and worldwide. Examples include the beach nourishment scheme at Sugar Cove, Spreckelsville, Maui in the USA and the recent beach nourishment works in the sea front of South Hayling, southern England. The beach nourishment schemes have not only direct impacts on the beach and coastal evolution, but also significant economic, social and environmental impacts.
