Calculating extreme sea level estimates in complex Scottish loch systems

摘要

This summary paper provides an outline of a method used to derive estimates of ESLs along complex coastlines that exhibit greater confidence than has previously been available. The method has successfully been applied to the Firth of Lorne/Loch Linnhe system for the Highland Council. The calculated ESLs will be used to inform flood defence design, emergency planning and development planning. It is also planned that the model will be further developed for use in flood forecasting.
