In order to study the local stress characteristics of cable-pylon anchorage zone and the friction loss for U-type prestressing tendon with small radius, a full scale pylon segment model including one whole anchorage of cable was tested based on Yongjiang super-large bridge. The model test was characterized in the aspect of using a self-balanced loading reaction frame and emulating the cable-action by diagonal loading facility. Also numerical simulation was conducted by the finite element software ANSYS. The maximum load of the model test is 12000kN, which is 1.65 times of the design cable force of the prototype. The results indicate that friction factors are 0.19 and 0.46 under plastic corrugated pipe and steel pipe respectively. The calculated values agree well with the model test results and the pylon including anchorage zone is under linear elastic working state. There is no crack at the outside of concrete wall of the pylon under 1.65 times of the design cable force. The above results make clear that the design of cable-pylon anchorage zone of Yongjiang super-large bridge is reasonable and practical able to meet the stress demand of structure.
