Alcohol is often a factor in fatal collisions, but the presence of alcohol in the blood cannot alwaysbe conrmed. In this paper, we present the two stage, multiple imputation algorithm used bythe Evaluation & Data Systems Division of the Road Safety and Motor Vehicle Directorateat Transport Canada to impute the blood alcohol content levels of drivers involved in fatalcollisions, based on a number of descriptive collision variables. We then provide an articialexample that illustrates the algorithm, as well as the result of the imputation for a Canadianjurisdiction.
