摘要

PV markets are focused on free-standing PV plants and buildings. PV on rooftops needs individual planning with high costs, free-standing PV plants are not always well accepted in public. This new approach of using the surfaces of artificial lakes, which are used for hydro power generation, in combination with floating PV devices allows for new sorts of renewable hybrid power plants, which are very modular and highly scalable. Grid integration with high penetration of PV is possible with this approach due to the possibility of using the reservoir of the hydro power plant as storage capacity. In addition, the existing infrastructure of the hydro power plant to feed in the produced PV energy can partly be used and offers synergies for utilities/plant owners. With the uniform blueprint for theses hybrid power plants mass production and a fast dissemination of PV is possible. A potential study of hydro power plants in Spain shows a potential for hybrid PV plants capable of producing about 15% of the annual electricity demand.
