The increasing demand and limited natural resources of noble metals make its recovery from dilute industrial wastes attractive, especially when using environmentally friendly methods. Nowadays, the high impact that nanotechnology is having in both science and society offers new research possibilities. The use of algae and industrial wastes is a costeffective environmental friendly alternative. Gold nanoparticles were biosynthesized by a rapid, single step, and completely green method using different types of biomass. This work deals with how to control the nanoparticles morphology by modifying pH or gold ions concentration/biomass ratio. The possibility to achieve a nanoparticle shape control by biosynthesis could be a starting point for a new "green" , largescale and economically viable synthesis procedure for nanomaterials.
