One key-point to the success of data warehousing lies in the design of the warehouse design which must meet the user''s needs. But, how can we meet personalized needs for analysis? In this paper, we introduce an approach which enables the user to integrate his own knowledge on the field in order to enrich the analysis capabilities of the warehouse and progressing its diagram. We also present some elements that are necessary for its implementation i.e. management model for the data warehouse progression, algorithms, etc. User knowledge is expressed in terms of “if-then” type rules. These latter are used to create granularity levels in dimension hierarchies. We developed this approach with a banking institution in order to allow its users to meet their needs for personalized analysis of banking data.
