Virtual dressing and clothing animation is an important area in computer graphics and related applications.In this paper a new animation system is presented which incorporates two novel contributions.The first is a new non-photorealistic approach to the dressing process,which allows the clothing to initially be partly within the body model and then iteratively pushed outside the body and dressed normally.Thus,the conventional complex and slow dressing process of sewing up complex garment patterns becomes unnecessary;dressing speed is much improved;and the final result looks realistic.This approach is general enough for most commonly encountered models and cloth materials.Secondly,a new adaptive update method for over-stretching treatment in clothing animation is proposed.This method differs from the traditional treatment by adaptively updating those cloth vertices most likely caused by overstretching first.It can cut the processing time by about a half and produces results that are visually appealing.
