In this paper, combining transfer matrix method and finite element method, the finite element transfer matrix method is presented for high efficient dynamic modeling of piezoelectric structures. Then, by using the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) approach, the control strategy is designed in each independent modal space for active vibration control of piezoelectric structures. The proposed method has the low memory requirement and high computational efficiency. Formulations as well as a numerical example are given to validate the method and the control performance.
