摘要

This paper presents a novel fabrication technique for producing microfluidic devices using commercially available Plexiglas substrates (PMMA). Using deep-ultraviolet (DUV) radiation at 254nm to break the bonds of the PMMA and dissolving the exposed PMMA using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) water mixture, PMMA surface can be patterned effectively. A novel bonding technique using microwave heating is used to complete the fabrication of functional microfluidic devices. This technique offers an ultra low cost approach to fabricate PMMA microfluidic devices. This paper also presents a plug-injection microfluidic device which could be useful for drug delivery applications. We have explored the possibility of determining the drug concentration as the plug is being moved using electrical impedance/conductance measurement.
