Improving Enterprise System Adoptions in Transition Economies: Insights from an Exploratory Study in Poland

This study's goal is to investigate the areas for improvement in enterprise system (ES) adoption projects in transition economies, i.e. economies which are in transition from communist central planning system towards free market economy. On the basis of research conducted among 172 ES practitioners in Poland, an analysis based on grounded theory revealed 14 areas for improvement in ES adoptions and suggested relationships among the identified areas. Next, a stakeholder analysis of the discovered issues allowed us to propose stakeholder groups and evaluate their roles and importance with respect to the areas for improvement. The main results suggest that the areas for improvement in ES adoptions in transition economies are mainly connected with the better preparation of the company for the implementation project with a special focus on the improvement of trainings.
