A NEW METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF ORGANICS IN THE BAYER PROCESS

This article introduces briefly the main organics sources in Bayerprocess alumina production and the harm due to accumulationduring process flows, specifies the organics removal methodsapplied generally in world alumina refineries, and explains brieflyadvantages & disadvantages of each method. The article stressesthe super-concentrated organics removal method developedsuccessfully by GAMI with Guizhou University together, whichnot only has good organics removal effects (total removal percentof 57~66%), but also effectively removes the carbonates in theprocess flow.
