Cracking Analysis of Florida Barge Canal Spliced I-girder Bridge

摘要

The purpose of this investigation is to identify the main causes of the cracks which occurredin the Cross Florida Barge Canal Bridge which is a three-span continuous spliced I-girder bridge. First, abrief description of the cracking is given. Then, the analytical models are presented. The analytical resultsshow that the maximum vertical tensile stress at the end zone due to the longitudinal prestressing strandsis nearly 8% of the total prestressing force. Finally, some recommendations for future end zone detailingare discussed. The results presented in the paper can help the bridge designers in providing a betterbridge detailing and prevent the prestressed spliced I-girder from possible cracking.
