Laser light sources have drawn interest for their wide color gamut, long life, and capability of achieving very high brightness when used as projector light sources. We developed a RGB laser light source module which incorporates lasers of the three primary colors (red green and blue) with a combined output power of 21W in a single package measuring just 530cc. The module has a high electro-optical conversion ratio of 18% in average, and can be applied to large screen projectors of over 10,000 lumens by stacking multiple modules. In this article, the outline of the RGB laser light source module and its prospects through commercialization are reported.
