Experimental Study on Energy Efficiency of Heat-source Tower Heat Pump Units in Winter Condition

Building energy consumption in China has been increasing rapidly. And a small increase in the operation efficiency of the air-conditioning system can substantially decrease it. In this paper a new type heat pump is developed to improve the performance of conventional air-source heat pumps. The major components of heat-source tower heat pump units are closed-type heat-source tower (cold and heat sources absorption equipment) and heat pump of low temperature heat source. According to the relevant national standards, the thermal parameters were experimentally studied, such as total heating capacity, consumed total power of heating and heating comprehensive performance coefficient, etc. of the heat-source tower heat pump developed for winter condition. Main test results: when air dry bulb temperature is 1°C~5°C, relative humidity is 71%~95%, COP of the chiller can be 2.58-4.34 and SEER of the units can 2.45-3.45 in winter condition. The results indicate that the heat-source tower heat pump units, which is new developed, has very good application prospects in hot summer and cold winter region.
