HOW TO MERGE TWO CORPORATE STYLE GUIDES

This presentation describes one writer's experience in leading a combined Style Guide project for two relatively large companies who recently underwent a merger. Both companies had established Style Guides that had been developed over time by experienced writing teams. This paper describes the process we followed for identifying and addressing the key differences between the Style Guides, making recommendations and providing rationale, and rolling out changes to both teams of writers. It also describes some important lessons learned.
