Comparison Between Poloxamer- and Chitosan- based Thermally Sensitive Gels For The Treatment Of Vaginal Mucositis

Mucoadhesive vaginal formulations based on poloxamer-chitosan and chitosan-glycerol phosphate mixtures were developed and compared for their gelation temperature, mucoadhesive potential, antimicrobial activity and wound healing properties. The capability of such mixtures to withstand physiological removal mechanisms after gelation was also evaluated.
