It is important to relate supplementary cultivated land quantity and quality with the occupied cultivated land grade and realize conversion. This will help to strike a balance among the supplementary cultivated land and the occupied cultivated land, protecting the limited farming resources, guaranteeing national food security, harmonizing man-land relationship, and promoting sustainable economic development. Using Jianhan plain -which is China's grain production base -as a case study, this paper utilizes agricultural land grading results to discuss the relationship between farmland utilization grade index and standard food output. Linear regression is employed to establish this relationship using data obtained from agricultural land grading results by sampling survey method to choosing 2778 classification cell data. Based on the spatial graphic data, and using the area weighted average method, we calculated average utilization grade index, in order to obtain corresponding standard grain output and quantity-quality grade conversion coefficient of supplementary cultivated land. We found that the method is feasible and the conclusion is effective. This will be useful for protecting the quantity and quality of cultivated land and optimizing design for land consolidation project as well as determining the reasonable scale and layout of land use planning in the Jianghan plain.
