By comparing the results of different flocculants in papermaking white water, this research shows that for the anionic characteristics of the small composition in the white water, the anionic polyacrylamide cannot flocculate the white water while the cationic polyacrylamide and the nonionic PEO/PFR dual flocculation system which has the special flocculation mechanism can flocculate the white water excellently. The charge density of cationic polyacrylamide influences the ability of flocculation resisting the shear force, and the higher the cationic density is, the stronger the shear resisting ability of the flocculation body is. For the special flocculation mechanism of the PEO/PFR flocculation system to white water, and the flocculation action of PEO/PFR system to white water with different characteristics, the formed flocculation body can resist the shear force strongly with the dosage of PEO and PFR. So the PEO/PFR dual flocculation system is the best one for treating the white water from papermaking.
