摘要

The adsorption of iron(Ⅲ) on eucalyptus holocellulose was characterized under alkaline conditions. Less than 25% of added iron(Ⅲ) was adsorbed on cellulose fiber. Further investigations showed that initial average particle size of iron(Ⅲ) in solution was larger, and inert to pH. Moreover, the effect of different states of iron(Ⅲ), such as free iron(Ⅲ) in aqueous solution and adsorbed iron(Ⅲ) on cellulose, on hydrogen peroxide catalytic decomposition was assessed. Adsorbed iron(Ⅲ) on cellulose fiber was much more fatal to peroxide decomposition than free iron(Ⅲ) in aqueous solution. In addition, DTPA or MgSO4 showed a strong stability effect on peroxide with free iron(Ⅲ), but hardly any stability effect with adsorbed iron(Ⅲ) on cellulose fiber.
