This paper studied vegetation change trend in the Mt. Qomolangma National Nature Reserve during 2000-2007 based on EVI data, and analyzed the spatio-temporal features of vegetation changes by using GIS time animation. The results show that the general trend of vegetation changes in the Mt. Qomolangma National Nature Reserve is mainly in a stable state; however, vegetation degradation trend exceeds the bettering trend. At the same time, vegetation of the core zone has an obvious bettering trend, while vegetation of the experimental zone has a serious degradation trend. According to correlation analysis of human settlement density and vegetation changes in road and river buffer zones, the paper discussed influence of human activities to the vegetation changes. It discovered that human activities are closely interrelated with the vegetation changes, and destructive effects in the valley areas are particularly apparent.
