The paper presents one of the possible ways how to solve the problems related to the uncertainty in risk analysis of water supply systems (WSS). The basic description, categories and resources of possible hazard scenarios in WSS are presented. We are still not able to exactly estimate and express the probability and consequences for each of potential type of hazard. The implementation of FMEA (Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis) and methodology how to use it for some type of hazards related with the technical failures and water quality problems in water distribution system (WDS) as a part of WSS presents the first part of the paper. The second part of the paper deals with a case study of a real water distribution system of small municipality with implementation of this methodology including the estimation of quantitative and qualitative risks posted by the individual system components and different factors using the results of hydraulic modeling.
