摘要

This paper describes a method to predict the behavior of timber joints. The analysis model and calculation method are presented based on Distinct Element Method which is operated on discontinuous body to compute the displacement of granular elements by using the equation of motion. The main feature of the proposed method is that partial destruction and brittle fracture can be calculated without special consideration. Although the method is still not completed compared to Finite Element Method, the construction of model is simple, and can easily be applied to inhomogeneous materials and discontinuous body in the future. The validity of this method is verified through the simulation of specific fractural behavior of wooden pin. The results of analysis and those of the pull out tests are discussed in comparison.
