This paper evaluates the static behavior of steel girder-abutment joints in integral bridges incorporating steel-plate or steel-box girders. Two innovative steel girderabutment joints are suggested, with the object of improving the rig id behavior and serviceability of the joints. Head stud shear connectors,perfobond rib shear connectors,and stiff en ers such as diaphragm and steel tie bars are installed in the suggested joints. Experimental loading tests were per formed on small-scale steel girder-abutment joint specimens incorporating the suggested joints. The static behaviors and failure modes(crack patterns) of the steel girder-abutment joints were verified.
