Fit Phase Error Function For Compensation In Structural Light 3D Measurement

Structured light approach is one of the most widely used techniques to retrieve threedimensional (3D) information of an unknown surface. At present, optical 3D measurement systems are very often based on the digital fringe projection technique. In practice, the luminance nonlinearity caused by the gamma effect of projector leads to nonsinusoidal fringe, which result in non-negligible phase error. The phase error reduces the measurement accuracy substantially. In this paper, fitting phase error function is proposed for compensation the phase error in structural light measurement. First, shoot four images of phase shift fringes projected to the reference white board. Secondly, acquire the real phase value based on the phase shift method, and then minus the ideal phase to get discrete phase error data by which fit phase error compensation function. Finally, compensate the real phase by adding the function. The effectiveness and rapidity of this method is verified via practical experimentation.
