Method has the following steps: determination of measurement values of the cosine and sine curve for each signal period; estimation of offset, and-or amplitude and-or phase errors, or of values proportional to them, from Fourier analysis of the measurement values; whereby Fourier coefficients are determined for the base and first harmonic of the oscillation, offset errors from the base value and amplitude and phase errors are determined from the first harmonic. Iterative Fourier analysis is carried out until a approximately exact correction values are obtained.
