As IPTV service spreads over the world, the IPTV subscriber requires high quality and stable service. It is essential that an Internet service provider (ISP) carrying out IPTV multicast service should measure quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) at different points in the network. Each ISP manages the quality metrics affecting the end-user perceived quality and makes an effort to enhance the quality by utilizing the feedbacks from network management systems and the survey. In this paper, we measured the visual quality metrics under various network environments by changing with the behavior of traffic flow such as packet loss, delay, and jitter. Moreover, the relationship between the IPTV network QoS and an end-user's perceived visual quality is analyzed. Two commercial network emulators were employed in our experiments.
