The objective of this paper was to determine potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) concentration for tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill,cv Cervil) using a new type of negative hydraulic pressure controlled auto irrigator.This irrigation device was used to supply water and nutrient solution directly into the pot growing tomatoes.Water supply tension was set to control stable soil moisture regime,and different Nutrient solution formulae with different potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4) concentrations were designed to make tomato substrate cultivation.Effects of nutrient solutions with different potassium dihydrogen phosphate concentrations on plant physiological growth,yield and quality of cherry tomatoes were investigated.The results indicate that with the negative water supplying and controlling device,as the concentration of potassium dihydrogen phosphate in nutrient solution increased properly,plant height,stem diameter and leaves area of tomatoes increased,and the effect was significant.The fruit yield increased by 61.1% and 62.9% significantly under 2.5S (340mg/L) and 3S (408mg/L).Physiological activities such as net photosynthesis and root activity achieved the highest under 340mg/L KH2PO4.Quality was improved at the same time.For the tomato production under solutions from negative pressure irrigation device,340mg/L KH2PO4 concentration can be considered as the suggested application rate in solutions.
