Performance and Correlation Analysis of the Fruit Characters and Anatomical Structure of Different Strains of Tomato

The performance and interrelation of the agronomic characters and fruit pericarp microstructure of four tomato strains was studied. The results showed that, the fruit hardness of strain 'Chw' is the most, no malformed fruits. The exocarp cell thickness of strain 'JL-8 'is the most, and no malformed fruits. The hardness of '46' is lower, and the malformed fruits rate is larger. The malformed fruits rate of 'JL-I' is largest. The results of correlation analysis showed that the locule number and the diameter of fruit have significant positive correlation with the malformed fruits rale, r = 0.91. 0.89, respectively. The thickness of cuticle and the fruit hardness have significant positive correlation, r=0.95. The locule number, fruit diameter, content of organic acids, hardness and thickness of cuticle all have important influence on the forming process of malformed fruits.
