Diploid citrus grandis was used as the female and crossed with the allotetraploid somatic hybrids NS (tangelo + sweet orange), NH (tangelo + HB pummelo) and HD (sweet orange+ tangerine) to obtain the development of hybrid seeds and embryos at different stages after pollination, with Ponkan as the control. The number of aborted seeds and aborted embryo at different stages after pollination was got by artificial observation and the data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results show that the rate of aborted seeds (97-98%) in the three treatment groups is significantly higher than that of the control (P< 0. 01). The peak period of embryos abortion in citrus grandisx NS crosses appears 70-77 days after pollination (DAP) and 91-105 DAP.
