Identification of One Advantage Antagonistic Yeast Against Banana Anthracnose

A yeast isolate (Z-BR-16) was screened from banana fruit, and was tested for antagonistic activity against banana Anthracnose {Colletotrichum musae) of banana fruit in bean sprout juice agar (BSJDA) medium. In order to further research characteristic of the yeast isolate (Z-BR-16), the isolate (Z-BR-16) was identified through morphological, physiological and biochemical, molecular biological methods. The results showed that the cells of isolate (Z-BR-16) were round or oval, multilateral budding, usually pseudohyphal really little or no mycelium, each ascus has 1 to 4 hat-shaped or Saturn-shaped spores. So the isolate (Z-BR-16) was preliminarily identified as Pichia anomala. At the same time, the rDNA-ITS sequence of isolate (Z-BR-16) was analyzed, and the result showed that the sequence max ident of the isolate (Z-BR-16) was 100% compared with the Pichia anomala. Therefore, the isolate (Z-BR-16) was confirmed to Pichia anomala.
