Difficulties for Nonprofit Organizations in Participating in Public Crisis Management in China and the Countermeasures

With social organizations across the globe being revolutionized and the concept of public crisis management gaining popularity, nonprofit organizations (here in after "NPO") is becoming an important element and collaborative force in the management of public crises. At present, China is in a stage when public crises are occurring very frequently. However, the government does not have the resource and capacity to respond to, deal with and manage various crises independently. Therefore, it is imperative to introduce NPOs and give full play to their role in public crisis control. This article attempts to define NPOs, public crisis, and public crisis management, analyze the advantage of by NPOs participating in public crisis management, discuss the difficulty for Chinese NPOs to take part in public crisis management, and put forward suggestions and countermeasures on how to make NPOs better participate in public crisis management based on the actual conditions of the country.
