Analysis and Control of Ground Buildings Safety Risk in Complex Urban Tunnel Excavation

As is well-known, strata disturbance occurs inevitably due to urban shallow tunnel construction, which may cause adjacent ground buildings to subside, incline and even craze. In complex urban environment, all these results will have bad influence on the safety and normal operation of buildings more or less. Consequently, safety risk analysis and control of ground buildings during tunnel construction is very important to protect structures as well as decrease adverse impact on urban environment. Based on the project of Xiamen Airport Road Tunnel passing through complex ground buildings, and by using insitu monitoring and numerical simulation method, deformation control standard of ground buildings mainly involving building maximum settlement, differential settlement and crack width was put forward; furthermore, three-level management method- "Early Alarm, Alarm, Utmost" for building deformation was proposed. For important 34# building, numerical simulation is applied to predict and analyze tunnel construction influence, and reasonable risk control measures are presented correspondingly. Especially the schemes of strata reinforcement and building uplift depending on grouting are introduced.
