The account of explosion accidents of quick actuating vessels is about one-third of the total account of pressure vessels in China according to statistics. And opening door with residual pressure is the main reason for the explosion produced. In this paper, numerical analysis of pressure, volume and other effects on the explosion were done. Moreover, an explosion hazard test platform for pressure vessels was established. With the platform, experimental research was carried out to investigate the explosion consequence of two types of quick actuating pressure vessels which were opened with residual pressure. The results showed that the explosion energy increased linearly with increasing pressure in vessel as well as increasing volume in vessel; there were no direct relationship between the explosion energy and the product of pressure and volume; the allowable maximum value of residual pressure was relevant to the structure of vessels.
