Type tests play a very important role in a dosimetry laboratory during the development andimplementation of a dosimetric system for routine use and they enable the evaluation of the consistency and theperformance of the dosemeter characteristics under reference parameters. In Brazil there were not yet requirementsfor the performance of extremity dosemeters, therefore the ISO standards are still adopted. Calibration and typetests were performed in an extremity dosimetry system based on a LiF:Mg,Ti detector with a new 5 mg.cm~(-2)PTFE-Teflon? encapsulation. All type tests and calibration were performed in terms of the personal doseequivalent HP(0.07). Type tests consisted of batch homogeneity, reproducibility, linearity, fading, detectionthreshold, self-irradiation, residual signal, effects of light exposure, angle and energy dependence of response forphotons and beta rays. The low attenuation influence of the luminescent signal by the new encapsulation was alsoconfirmed. Results showed that the dosimetric system complied with all ISO standard requirements; theassessment of the uncertainties of the measurement procedure identified relevant sources of uncertainties thatcould be reduced their influence
