Liquid organic peroxides have been widely applied in the process industries. Unfortunately, they also have caused many serious runaway accidents, due to uncontrollable thermal sources. This study investigated the kinetic model, the thermokinetic parameters and thermal hazard assessment of liquid organic peroxides, such as 1,1-di-(tert-butylperoxy)-3,3,5-rrimethylcyclohexane (TMCH), di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP), and 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di-(tert-butyl peroxy) hexane (DTBPH), by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), vent sizing package 2 (VSP2), and thermal activity monitor Ⅲ (TAM Ⅲ), respectively. The aim was to investigate the thermokinetic parameters of thermal decomposition for TMCH, DTBP, and DTBPH applying non-isothermal kinetics, adiabatic kinetics, isothermal kinetics and then identifying the kinetic model of thermal decomposition by simulation approaches.
