DSC and Microscopy – to see what you cannot see on DSC curves

DSC curves often show effects which are hard to understand. In such cases it may help to have visualinformation on what is going on with the sample. If this is available, one can e.g. identify solid-solidtransformations, differentiate among overlapping effects (e.g. melting and decomposition), see shrinkageof fibers or films, or simply identify causes for artifacts on the DSC curve.
