To aid in evaluating and improving the operational effectiveness of rotorcraft in Homeland Security, Disaster, and Emergency Response (HSDER) operations, a software tool was developed with collaboration by key investigators from the Center for Rotorcraft Innovation (CRT), Bell Helicopter Textron Inc., The Boeing Company, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Kaman Aerospace Corporation, the University of Maryland, and the University of Texas at Arlington. The software was designed to provide a graphical, interactive environment in which rotorcraft effectiveness can be evaluated performing key Homeland Security operations in response to events caused by a simulated man-made and natural disaster event (hurricane, earthquake, terrorist activity, etc.).
