Energetic materials for use in all kinds of inflator systems used in passive automotive safety devices have to fulfil high demands with respect to in-service life. 15 years at high thermal loads is the standard. From this point of view three singlebase propellants similar to usual ones have been analysed in order to find out if they can achieve the wished in-service times. Kinetic evaluation procedures are applied in order to get the activation parameters and enable to use time-temperature profiles for the assessment. In view of out-of area missions with higher thermal loads this type of assessment can be helpful to develop and select suitable propellants for such missions.
