Due to the features of low growth temperature (∼80 °C) and well profile control [1], low temperature solution phase grown ZnO nanowires (NWs) have become one of the promising candidates for vacuum microano electronic devices application [2]. However, the relatively high surface electron affinity (∼4.2 eV) [3] and large nanowire-substrate contact resistance [4] may be unfavorable for field emission performance. In the present work, we presented our findings on enhancing field emission of low temperature solution phase grown ZnO NWs by using diamond like carbon (DLC) thin film.
