This paper is dealing with a comparative analysis, from technical point of view, of the solutions with the highest potentiality utilized in sonar heads drives. Even though use of DC servomotors is an convenient solution for most customers, from some modern analysis criteria points of view, this type of drive system has a low reliability and a greater impact on the environment, compared to AC servomotors. From AC servomotors class, in such an application, stepper motors, respectively commutator motors (brushless DC motors) have a better behavior. This is why, the analysis accomplished in this paper, put in balance these tow AC servomotors classes.
