Ecological Homeland Construction for Rural Migrants and Water Environment Protection in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area

The purpose of this paper is to explore effective countermeasures suitable for rural non-point source pollution control and water environment protection in the Three Gorges Reservoir area through discussing the case of ecological homeland construction for rural migrants in Wushan County. Methods of empirical analysis are employed. The results indicate ecological homeland construction is the combination between migrants' supports and water environmental protection. It focuses on non-point source pollution control and involves the household biogas pool construction for rural migrants, non-point source pollution control of demonstration village which including competitive industries development, solid waste disposal, sewage treatment, the village greening etc, as well as migrants supported demonstration livestock farm pollution control. Construction programs are targeted and easy to operate, which helps improve ecology and environment in rural areas and realize the harmonious development of economy, environment and society. The conclusion is ecological homeland construction program of Wushan County can provide references for water environment protection, and the other measures on management and economic incentives should be gradually tried and matched.
