Temperature control system of the thermal analyzer is characteristic of nonlinear, time-varying and time-lag. However, the temperature control system with conventional Proportional-Integral-Differential (PID) controller can not meet a wide range of precision temperature control requirements. In order to improve a wide range of temperature control accuracy, we design and implement a temperature control system of the thermal analyzer by combining fuzzy and PID control methods and accomplish a comparative experiment of conventional PID with fuzzy selftuning PID control method. Compared with the method of conventional PID, the experimental results show that the method has the advantages of faster response, smaller overshoot, and higher accuracy. These results also show that the system we design can satisfy the requirements of the temperature control system of the thermal analyzer.
