Spunlace nonwoven fabric is mainly used as medical products, consumer and industrial wipe and substrates for artificial leather with relatively high absorption abilities, softness, drape, conformability and high strength. PET fiber, one of the common raw materials for woven and nonwoven fabrics, has excellent physical properties and economical properties, but PET is hard to be processed by the spunlace nonwoven process and the resultant nonwoven fabric is hydrophobic. The objective of this paper is to get PET spunlace nonwoven fabric with good hydrophilic properties and mechanical properties by hydrophilic finishing PET fibers with different methods. Two kinds of hydrophilic PET fibers were obtained by sticking an aqueous solution to the surface of PET fibers. The results showed that PET spunlace nonwovens with better hydrophilic properties and mechanical properties could be maintained by using higher content of PET fibers and higher coefficient of friction.
