In this study, a series of biodegradable aliphatic-aromatic poly(butylene succinate-co-terephthalate) (PBST) copolyesters were synthesized through the method of esterification/polycondensation from the starting materials of succinic acid, terephathalic acid and 1,4-butanediol in the presence of different sets of catalysts and/or stabilizing agents. The whiteness of the prepared PBST copolyesters were investigated to reveal the effects of catalysts and stabilizing agents on the color of these copolyesters. The results indicated that the whiteness obviously elevated when stabilizing agents were selected as a partner of catalysts.
