Students in applied quantitative subjects like operations management typically spend class time in lectureand actively engage with the material outside of class, while working on problem sets. New technologiesallow for lectures to be digitized and delivered on demand. This paper describes the design of a portfoliobasedapproach to the core operations management class that causes the students to pull information asneeded to satisfy portfolio task requirements. The portfolio tasks include a multi-stakeholder processaudit, an inventory management policy booklet, a capacity and throughput flow plan, and a supply chainpartnership agreement.
