Pneumatic cylinders have been widely used in industrial automations for its many advantages.However,as the compressibility,low viscosity of the compressed air,the theoretical research of pneumatic cylinder is far behind its engineering application.A double-acting multistage cylinder with a displacement sensor was developed for the requirement of a universal drill in coal mine.Both static and dynamic model of the cylinder was setup,and characteristics of the cylinder were simulated and tested.Experimental studies verified the mathematical model and theoretical research,which supply a sound basis for the control of the cylinder.
