The present investigation deals with the failure strength of carbon-epoxy composite pin-loaded joints made by filament winding technique.As is well known,mechanically-fastened joints under tensile loads generally fail in three basic modes,referred to as net-tension mode,shear out mode,and bearing mode.Among them,the bearing mode is an ideal failure mode.And The pin-loaded joints made by filament winding technique are managed to take the advantage of fiber reinforced characteristics and are tailored to fail mainly with bearing mode.Therefore,the joints are named Integrated High Performance Joints (IHPJ).The main objective is to investigate the strength of the IHPJ.The failure load and the failure mode of the IHPJ are analysed numerically and experimentally.Hashin failure criteria is used in the failure analysis.Experiments of integrated pin loops proved that the main failure of pin loop was bearing and delamination which is coincident with the numerical analysis.
