The model wind tunnel experiment and numerical simulation method were used to study the aerodynamic characteristics of high-speed electric locomotive with double cabs.The wind tunnel used in experiment is a FD-09 type that is a kind of low-speed wind tunnel with single direction flow.The ratio of reduce scale of the locomotive model was 1:8.873.Software FLUENT was used to numerical simulation.The 3D viscose uncompressible Reynolds equation and κ-ε two equations turbulence model were used in numerical analyses.The results of simulation and the experiment were compared in this paper.The results obtained from these two methods were generally consistent.Based on the results of simulation analysis and model wind tunnel experiment,several design parameters of the locomotive outline were optimized.After that,the new optimized models were analyzed by numerical simulation method.Some significant conclusions had been obtained.
